Budhan Swetharanyeswarar Temple at Thiruvenkadu, the fourth Navagraha sthalam of the nine Navagraha Temples in Tamil Nadu. The temple was built by Aaditya Chola and Raja Raja Chola over 3000 years ago. The temple is additionally one among the fifty-one Shakti Peethas. This temple is the fourth large sthalam with three huge ponds-Agni theertham, Surya theertham, Chandra theertham, and five praharams is located in Nagapattinam district.
History of Thiruvengadu Bhudan Temple
The Demon Maruthuvan prayed Lord Brahma for long years. Lord Brahma appeared before him. He asked a lot of power for him and Brahma gifted all the powers to him. Day by day, Demon tortured Devas. Devas felt unhappy and visited Shiva’s Kayilayam. They prayed to Lord Shiva to urge freedom from the Evil. Lord Shiva suggested they to go Thiruvengadu.


Then Lord Shive sent  Nandhi deva to defeat the Demon. In the battle between Demon and Nandhi, Demon injured Nandhi with his Soolayudham.  Lord Shiva got angry and became Agoramurthy. On seeing the anger of Lord Shiva, Demon surrendered at his feet and begs Lord to forgive him and asked for a varam that those who prayed Agoramurthy wouldn’t have any enemies at all.
Budha Bhagawan Is soft in nature. He bestows Lord Shiva’s devotees with knowledge, Sculpture, grants power of expression and success in education, literary pursuits, fame in fine arts, and profession. Wednesday is the day to worship and he likes white kanthal flowers.
A unique feature about  Budhan Swetharanyeswarar Temple is that the image of Lord Shiva has 5 faces, Easanam, Tatpurusham, Aghoram, Vamadevam, and Sadyojatam. Worship to Lord Shiva’sfiery from Aghoramurthy isgood particularly on Sunday nights. Budha is attired in green and can be offered with green moong dhal, white kanthal flower, and green cloth. Darshan of Budha Bagavan on Wednesday is believed to rectify BudanDhosham.
